NYC Green Festival

I am so excited to see Frances Moore Lappe speak at the NYC Green Festival this weekend.

Growing up in suburban New Jersey, I didn’t look up to many of the grown women in my life.  I had a depressing outlook on getting older—it meant that you stopped growing, that you were less concerned with global issues and more concerned with reality TV shows and the next door neighbor’s obtrusive new mailbox.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Yes, we’re women and yes, we get older.  But getting older doesn’t have to mean that you have to stop believing that things can change.  Frances Moore Lappe is one of the influential women that taught me this lesson.

Even though my passion for the environment still falls on deaf ears at home, it doesn’t mean that nobody is listening.

And to paraphrase a biologist I once met, if you’re not growing, you’re dying. -Brian Grazer
